There
is an existing primary and secondary school in Kyangala but they are in
a very poor state of repair. The secondary school is private, but those
parents who can afford to send their children there generally cannot
afford further money for repairs.
The
school is shabby and not condusive to study. For example, the floors,
walls, ceilings, roof, doors are all in need of refurbishing and the
external walls need repair and painting.
There
are no laboratories for the teaching of science and the furniture of
desks, chairs, bookcases are very old and in poor condition.
In addition there is a need to provide an education facility to develop the vocational skills of young people once they leave school in order to equip them with skills such as carpentry, motor mechanics, dress making and leather work and IT. In this way they can seek wider employment opportunities and break the reliance on agriculture and commence the economic regeneration.
It is proposed to build a vocational school for that purpose and land has already been allocated for that purpose.
